 France may demand trial of Russia over war crimes in Syria, - Hollande

French President Francois Hollande says Russia could face war crimes charges over its bombardment of Syria's second largest city Aleppo.

He said it in an interview with French TV, Censor.NET reports citing BBC.

Hollande added this could take place in the International Criminal Court (ICC).

"These are people who today are the victims of war crimes. Those that commit these acts will have to face up to their responsibility, including in the ICC," Mr Hollande told TMC.

As previously reported, on Oct. 19, Putin intends to visit France to discuss the situation in Ukraine and Syria with his French counterpart.

Hollande, in turn, said he might refuse to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is due to visit France next week.

Dmitry Peskov, Putin's spokesperson, said the preparations for Russian president's forthcoming Paris visit are underway.
