As Ukraine's president, Viktor Yanukovych's activity in terms of national security was subordinated to the interests of Russia.

As reported by Censor.NET referring to the Prosecutor General's Office press service, such a conclusion was made by PGO's investigators.

In their opinion, Yanukovych's work in favor of the Russian Federation is evidenced by his decrees, the appointment of people with Russian citizenship to key positions, etc. Accordingly, his activity falls under article 255 (the establishment of a criminal organization) and article 111 (high treason) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Yanukovych's actions are viewed as a deliberate detriment to the sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability, defense capability, state, economic and information security of Ukraine.
