Ukrainian judges 'not able to live by transparent European standards,' - MP Yemets

Judges of Ukraine's Supreme Court are trying to sabotage the judicial reform for they 'don't want to live transparently' and are not capable of self-cleansing.

The Supreme Court's arguments that liquidation of courts is powers of the president, not the parliament, and that the parliament had no right to liquidate superior specialized courts contradict the Constitution of Ukraine. This was announced by People's Front MP Leonid Yemets, Censor.NET reports citing LIGA.net.

"The Constitution provides that it's the law that defines existence of superior specialized courts. This is what the Verkhovna Rada did by having liquidated the supreme administrative, economic, and civil courts," he explained.

Yemets stressed the judges of the Supreme Court "know this very well," however, they decided to appeal against the judicial reform.

"I am certain this is happening because these people are not capable of self-cleansing. These judges cannot live in a fresh new way, by standards of transparent European states," the MP noted.
