MP Muraiev files slander suit against Hromadske Radio and Censor.NET reporter Iryna Romaliiska

Verkhovna Rada deputy, former member of the Party of Regions and Opposition bloc faction Yevhen Muraiev has sued journalist Iryna Romaliiska.

The lawmaker wrote on Facebook, Censor.NET reports.

MP Muraiev was outraged by the fact that Iryna Romaliiska recalled a story on a group of Ukrainian MPs who visited the State Duma of the Russian Federation as she was asking MP Nadiia Savchenko about her interviews with NewsOne TV channel on air of Hromadske Radio.

"It is as worthless as appealing to journalists' ethical standards or just their ability to use Google. I am forced to win a slander suit to prove Romaliiska and her kindred several simple and publicly available facts that I did not visit the State Duma, that I was not called "defender of the Russian world", and that law enforcement agencies have no issues about my statements," Yevhen Muraiev wrote.

Muraiev called Romaliiska "a young troll" and alleged that she had previously worked for TV channel owned by Interior Minister Arsen Avakov in Kharkiv.

Romaliiska commented on this situation to Censor.NET:

"I was not among the MPs that visited Moscow in September 2014. Therefore, I did not see Muraiev with my own eyes there. Making such statements, I rely on media reports. In particular, UNIAN reported about the visit. Ukrinform published the list of Ukrainian guests at a meeting with Chairman of the Russian State Duma Naryshkin. Yevhen Muraiev was also mentioned in it. I also rely on reports by the Russian media, which read that 24 delegates have arrived there (hence, Muraev was among them). And here is footage of the speech delivered by the chairman of the Duma Committee on CIS, Eurasian integration and links with compatriots Slutsky, who calls Ukrainian MPs the "defenders of the Russian world".

"There are lots of similar reports. Besides, Advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs Zorian Shkiriak said that the criminal proceedings were initiated.

"The definition of "young" deserves my special thanks. I am ready to sue Muraiev for his statement that I have allegedly worked for Avakov. This is not true. I was an employee of Simon TV channel owned by businessman Oleksandr Davtian," Romaliiska said.Источник: https://censor.net.ua/en/n408105
