"I think that the elections is the matter for the American people. And this is not only a privilege to be American and vote for the next president, but also a very big responsibility because you elect the president of the country who will be the global leader," Poroshenko said in the interview to CNN TV channel.

The president believes "this global leader is vitally important not only for the United States, but also to keep freedom, to keep democracy, to keep values in a very difficult world we have now."

"I think that after the elections, no matter who would be elected, he or she would be a very responsible leader of the great American nation," the head of state commented on the difference between political positions of the U.S. presidential candidates and global consequences for each of the election outcomes.

Poroshenko noted he had met with U.S. presidential candidate Hillary Clinton during his visit to the U.S.

"I have known her for about 16 years and we had a very intensive dialogue when I was minister of foreign affairs. Together, we launched the Commission for Strategic Cooperation between Ukraine and USA. And I can confirm that she is very well-informed," he said.

The president also answered a question about meeting with another candidate, Donald Trump, noting that it hadn't happened because of the mismatch in schedules. Poroshenko said that he had met with 22 heads of states and governments during his two and a half days in New York City.Источник: https://censor.net.ua/en/n407714
