"The militants fired at the villages in the Popasna district four times over the past 24-hour period," Regional State Administration Deputy Chairman Yurii Klymenko said.
In particular, the Russian terrorist troops fired at the village of Novooleksandrivka with automatic grenade launchers and small arms three times in the evening. The enemy sniper also committed attacks in that area.
The saboteurs came close to the positions of the Ukrainian troops near the villages of Novozvanivka and Novooleksandrivka after midnight. The militants employed 82 mm mortars, anti-aircraft guns, infantry fighting vehicles, various types of grenade launchers, high-caliber machine guns, and small arms against Ukrainian soldiers during the two-hour skirmish.
"The enemy makes it clear that it is not worth relying on its common sense and accountability regarding the peaceful settlement of the situation in the Luhansk region. The two-day lull was nothing but a preparation for the provocation. These actions cast doubt on the successes achieved in Minsk," Yurii Klymenko commented on the situation.
