This was stated by Ukraine's Prime Minister Volodymyr Hroisman in the parliament, Censor.NET reports citing UNIAN.
He reminded about the bill submitted to the Rada by the Cabinet on confiscation of funds and said the Cabinet expected constructive and fruitful discussion of the bill and its subsequent passing.
"The funds that had been stolen should be returned. This is our duty. I have no idea who will be responsible if these funds disappear," the prime minister said.
Hroisman also noted that the amount of embezzled assets totals around 40 billion hryvnia ($1.54 billion). The state budget bill for 2017 stipulates for use of 10 billion hryvnia of this amount.
"These funds - in the amount of 40 billion hryvnia - should be spent on economic development, increase in defense capability of the country, and higher social standards," the prime minister said.
