Russia's parliamentary elections are scheduled for Sept. 18, 2016. The election campaign is underway in Ukraine's Crimea annexed by Russia in the spring of 2014. The Russian Federation intends to open four polling stations in its diplomatic missions in Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa and Kharkiv.

As previously reported, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko instructed Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin to inform the Russian leadership about the impossibility of holding the elections to the State Duma in the Ukrainian territory.

On Sept. 8, 2016, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine appealed to the parliaments of foreign states, international parliamentary assemblies and organizations to not recognize the elections to the State Duma in occupied Crimea and Sevastopol, scheduled for Sept. 18, 2016.

Ukrainian Parliament urges the international community to refrain from participating in monitoring the elections and to not recognize their results under any circumstances.
