Ukraine's chief patrol officer Yevhen Zhukov said on air of 1+1 TV channel, Censor.NET reports referring to the Interior Ministry press service.
"The competition will start Sept. 6. We are going to recruit about 1,000 new officers. Most of them will work in the capital, and the rest will go to regions," Zhukov said.
The lack of staff in Kyiv, according to him, is due to the fact some officers have been promoted to leading positions throughout Ukraine.
"Those employees who have proven themselves are promoted to leading positions. I personally appoint each of them without any guidance from above," the chief patrol officer noted.
