Ukraine urges Russia, militants to cease attacks on Sept. 1, 2016, - Olifer on results of Minsk talks

The Ukrainian side consistently fulfills the Minsk accords and urges the Russian Federation and militants not to violate their commitments and halt hostilities on Sept. 1, 2016.

Darka Olifer, press secretary of Ukraine's representative in the Trilateral Contact Group, country's former President Leonid Kuchma, wrote on Facebook, Censor.NET reports.

According to Olifer, the Trilateral Contact Group, including representatives of certain areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, expressed the need for a complete uninterrupted cease-fire in the Donbas starting from Sept. 1, 2016.

"A new school year starts on this day. More than 150,000 children will go to schools and kindergartens only in the government-controlled part of the Donbas. We believe that all children of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, regardless of where they live, are entitled to care and safety. This is why Ukraine insists on a complete cease-fire," she noted.

Olifer added that security is the key component to solve the problems of political, humanitarian and economic matter, while regaining control of the Ukraine-Russia border remains the basis for implementing major points of the Minsk agreements.

As also noted, the Ukrainian side continues its work to liberate hostages.

"Ukraine is ready to make serious compromises so that 107 people will be able to return to their families. We demand an immediate release of citizens and denounce any blackmailing: the amnesty [for militants - ed.] is stipulated by a different item of the Minsk agreements and has nothing to do with the liberation of people," Olifer stressed.

Moreover, according to the press secretary, the economic subgroup has reached a significant progress on the implementation of a water supply project - the restoration of Karbonit waterworks in the Luhansk region.

"An agreement on supplying water with the help of this station was concluded last weak. Some 400,000 residents of the Donbas will be supplied with water," Olifer remarked.
