New US Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch to arrive in Ukraine next week

The U.S. Embassy expects new Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch to arrive in Ukraine next week (Aug. 22-28).

Spokesperson to the embassy Vadym Kovaliuk told Ukrainski Novyny, Censor.NET reports.

"We expect the arrival of the new ambassador next week," he said.

Kovaliuk added that the newly appointed ambassador would be ready to start fulfilling her duties upon receipt of a copy of her credentials by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

He added that former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt had already left for Greece to serve as the U.S. representative there.

As reported, the U.S. Senate approved the appointment of Marie Yovanovitch as ambassador to Ukraine.

Marie L. Yovanovitch, a career member of the Foreign Service, class of Minister-Counselor, currently serves as Dean of the School of Language Studies at the Department of State's Foreign Service Institute, a position she has held since 2014.
