Lavrynovych dwells on charges filed against him by PGO

Ukraine’s former Justice Minister Oleksandr Lavrynovych is to come to the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine (PGO) for familiarization with the case materials on Monday.

Oleksandr Lavrynovych confirmed that the Prosecutor General's Office charged him with embezzlement while hiring the American law firm for Ukraine's defense in the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in the case of 'Tymoshenko v. Ukraine', Censor.NET reports citing RBC-Ukraine.

"I was served a notice of suspicion... It was the notice of the same suspicion that I was served more than a year ago. No new charges there... Its essence is that it has been adapted to the obtained proofs that are intended to be used as evidence in the case. I was summoned to get acquainted with case files on Monday," he noted.

Lavrynovych said that he intended to come to the prosecutor's office for familiarization with the case materials on Monday.

"My charges regard to the protection of Ukraine's interests in the ECHR in the case of 'Tymoshenko v. Ukraine'. I am suspected of complicity for hiring the U.S. law firm for building Ukraine's defense position on behalf of Justice Ministry. This firm got this job done and was paid for it," the ex-minister explained.
