PGO serves notice of suspicion to former justice minister Lavrynovych

Prosecutor General Lutsenko has voiced suspicions Lavrynovych is facing.

Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) of Ukraine has served a notice of suspicion to former justice minister Oleksandr Lavrynovych. This was announced by PGO head Yurii Lutsenko at a news conference on Thursday, Censor.NET reports citing RBK-Ukraine.

Lutsenko said PGO investigators were servicing the notice of suspicion to Lavrynovych, which suspicions included articles 191 and 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Article 191 covers embezzlement of state funds through abuse of office, and article 366 stipulates for punishment for a forgery by an official.

Earlier, Censor.NET reported that another former justice minister Olena Lukash is charged with embezzling 2.5 million hryvnia ($100,000) of state funds.

Lavrynovych is suspected of embezzling 8.5 million hryvnia of state funds during his tenure as justice minister. The embezzlement occurred in relation to the case of former PM Yuliia Tymoshenko in the ECHR.
