Putin intensifies pressure on Ukraine as he needs victories on threshold of elections to State Duma - Russia's opposition member Kasyanov

Russian President Vladimir Putin builds up pressure on Ukraine because he needs some political victories before the elections to the State Duma to secure success for the pro-presidential United Russia party.

As reported by Censor.NET, this opinion was expressed by the Russian opposition member, PARNAS party Head Mikhail Kasyanov in an interview with Radio Poland.

"He needs some sort of legitimacy outside Russia in order to stay in power. This means that he needs to find an external enemy. And he has actually found and voiced it. The United States, the Baltics, Poland, and Ukraine - these are the directions the propaganda is now targeted at. Putin needs victories. Unfortunately, Ukraine is now the ground for such training," he stressed.

The politician believes that the actual support for Putin among Russians is not as great as shown by the media. According to him, many are frightened and afraid to express their dislike for the president.
