Government will not reduce gas utility rates, will support those unable to pay, - MP Hroisman

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved bottom market price of gas, making its future reduction impossible. However, the government promised to support insolvent persons through grants-in-aid.

As reported by Censor.NET, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Hroisman wrote on his Facebook page.

"Like I said before, I will not let the populists scare people. It is easier for them to purchase gas for pennies and resell it at higher price in order to make profit on customers. We have established bottom market price for gas. Is it possible that the price (of gas - Ed.) will be lower? No, it is not, as it matches global market price, the European one in particular," he wrote.

In addition, Hroisman noted that the state would provide compensation to those in need through the mechanism of non-repayable grants-in-aid: "It is quite easy to obtain. The only thing needed is an application and tax return of a person registered in an accommodation. The state will no longer subsidize the rich, but it will support those unable to pay."

Earlier, Hroisman urged citizens spending more than 15 percent of income on housing and utilities services to join the state grant-in-aid system.Источник: https://censor.net.ua/en/n400851
