As reported by Censor.NET citing Radio Svoboda, Principal Deputy Chief Monitor of the OSCE SMM Alexander Hug commented on recent actions of Russian-backed separatists who had menaced observers with guns.
According to Hug, as long as there is no retaliation, as long as those responsible are not established, and as long as impunity continues, such incidents will increasingly take place. He also added that the lack of retaliatory measures would lead to increase in the number of such actions.
The OSCE official stressed that there was little chance to resolve the conflict in the Donbas if the observers keep encountering obstacles to their work.
Earlier, the OSCE reported that two armed "DPR" militants stopped an OSCE SMM patrol in the village of Luhove in the Donetsk region on July 29. The separatists blocked the observers' way and ordered them to leave the territory.
