 Onyshchenko to be put on international wanted list in two weeks at earliest, - Kholodnytskyi

People's deputy Oleksandr Onyshchenko, the main suspect in the case of gas fraud, will be put on the international wanted list in two weeks at the soonest.

As reported by Censor.NET, Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office Head Nazar Kholodnytskyi told 112 Ukraine TV channel.

According to him, it is necessary to follow the procedure, as the prosecutor general should sign the revised notice of suspicion soon.

"It may look a bit ridiculous, since everyone knows that he is outside Ukraine, but the lawyers will be able to build his defense based on those imperfections, not imperfections, but rather procedural points. That is why we have to adhere to this procedure, which way seem irrelevant at the first glance. However, it is stipulated by the Criminal Procedure Code," he said.

Earlier, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine raided the office of MP Oleksandr Onyshchenko March 16. The NABU stated that the searches were carried out under the pretrial investigation of criminal case initiated into abuse of office during sale of the natural gas jointly extracted with Ukrhazvydobuvannia SE.

Prosecutor General's Office received a motion of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) to lift the immunity of the people's deputy Oleksandr Onyshchenko in June.

On June 16, Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yurii Lutsenko drafted a motion requesting the Verkhovna Rada's consent for criminal prosecution, detention, and pretrial confinement of MP Oleksandr Onyshchenko. The Procedural Committee of the parliament allowed considering the withdrawal of parliamentary immunity of MP Onyshchenko on June 29.

On July 5, the parliament approved detention and arrest of people's deputy Onyshchenko.

Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office submitted Onyshchenko's notification of suspicion for Lutsenko's approval July 14. However, the prosecutor general instructed the agency to revise it.
