Kyiv Appeals Court reinstates ATO prosecutor Kulyk suspended over charges of illegal enrichment

On Wednesday, July 13, the Appeals Court of Kyiv reinstated Kostiantyn Kulyk, who is suspected of illicit enrichment, as anti-terrorist operation forces (ATO) prosecutor.

As noted, on July 13, 2016, the Appeals Court of Kyiv upheld the appeal by Kulyk's defense, opposing the ruling of the Solomianskyi district court of Kyiv of July 04, 2016 that suspended Kulyk from office for a two-month period. After considering the appeal, judges decided to revoke the previous ruling and passed a new one instead, rejecting the motion by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine on the suspension of Kostiantyn Kulyk, charged of a criminal offense under part 2, article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, from his post.

Earlier, the Solomianskyi district court of Kyiv released ATO prosecutor Kostiantyn Kulyk under personal recognizance until Sept. 4, while the prosecution requested placing him under house arrest.

Kulyk is charged of illegal transfer of his property including apartment on Ivana Kudri Street and a parking box in Kyiv to his live-in girlfriend Iryna Nimetz.

As reported, Wednesday, June 29, detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine searched the apartment of ATO prosecutor Kostiantyn Kulyk and found information that will be used as evidence in criminal proceedings instituted on the fact of illegal enrichment.

Previously, Kulyk emerged as a subject of scandalous media publications about corruption. According to Nashі Hroshі medium, a company close to him sold trash instead of new gas masks to the state railway administration. Moreover, Donetska Pravda found out that Kulyk and his close relatives had become owners of several expensive apartments in Kyiv.

Meanwhile, Petro Poroshenko Bloc MP Valerii Karpuntsov said that the NABU impedes the work of one of the principal investigators of Kurchenko's cases Kostiantyn Kulyk by coming to his home for a search.
