Blockade of Rada is a crime against Ukrainian people, - PM Hroisman

Ukrainian head of the government Volodymyr Hroisman has called on people's deputies of the Verkhovna Rada to unblock the parliament's rostrum and presidium in order to restore functioning.

As reported by Censor.NET, he said in his traditional video address on Facebook.

"This plenary week includes days when we could vote for bills that are needed by the country; blocking [of the Rada operations - ed.] is simply a crime against the Ukrainian people... I hope this week those who are blocking will come to senses and we will be able to continue working," Hroisman said.

As previously reported, Radical Party faction MPs had blocked the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada for several weeks, demanding to establish temporary investigative commissions on tariffs, offshore companies, and corruption. On July 5, they were joined by colleagues from Batkivshchyna faction, and some independent deputies. On Wednesday, July 6, the blocking went on with the key requirements being the reduction of utility rates and launching of a probe into president and his allies' offshore activity. In the morning of July 7, people's deputies from Petro Poroshenko Bloc and People's Front blocked the rostrum and presidium of the Verkhovna Rada to prevent their blocking by Radical Party and Batkivshchyna.
