Elections in Donbas will take place "after Russians stop killing Ukrainians," - Poroshenko responds to Russian reporter

Elections in the Donbas will take place only after Russian occupation troops are withdrawn from the Ukrainian territory.

Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainski Novyny.

Asked by a reporter of Russian TV channel 'Rossiya' about dates of elections in the Donbas, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko responded: "When Russians stop killing Ukrainians, as soon as Russian occupation troops are withdrawn from Ukrainian territory."

The situation took place on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Warsaw.

As reported earlier, holding elections in the occupied Donbas and granting a special status to this territory is stipulated by the Minsk accords signed on Feb. 12, 2015.
