 NATO member countries agreed to deploy four battalions in Poland and Baltics, - Stoltenberg

NATO leaders agreed to send four allied forces battalions in Poland and the Baltic states.

This decision made by the Alliance leaders at the Warsaw Summit was announced by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, Censor.NET reports citing Radio Poland.

Canada will deploy soldiers in Latvia, Germany will lead the battalion in Lithuania, the United Kingdom in Estonia, while the United States will serve as a framework nation in Poland, NATO chief said.

All the battalions will be multinational, which means that they will consist of soldiers from different countries.

A total of 4,000 soldiers will be sent to Eastern Europe in early 2017. The military presence in Poland and Baltic States will not be limited in time, but the troops will rotate every 6-9 months.
