Cabinet to develop procedure for granting volunteers combatant status

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has decided to instruct the relevant ministries and agencies to develop a separate procedure for granting volunteer soldiers the status of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) participant at the initiative of Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelian today, July 6.

Censor.NET reports citing the press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine.

The statement covers volunteers who are not affiliated to any official military detachment, as well as those who have been killed or injured in action in the Donbas defending territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine.

This decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting July 6, 2016.

"We have a paradoxical situation: the people give their lives or health for Ukraine, but they are not taken into account by the official statistics and such people have no rights. It is necessary to develop a procedure so that at least those who have been injured or killed in the east, defending Ukraine, will be granted status of the ATO participant," Volodymyr Omelian stressed.Источник: https://censor.net.ua/en/n396327
