Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yurii Lutsenko announced after the court session in the case of Aidar commander Valentyn Lykholit, Censor.NET reports citing 112 TV Channel.
"Melnychuk's case is currently considered by the Court of Appeal. As soon as the court opens, the PGO will submit the case to the Verkhovna Rada.
"So far the Supreme Court acknowledged that Melnychuk was deprived of immunity with violations of the rules. So today he enjoys full parliamentary immunity. To start the lifting process and conduct it according to regulations, I need access to materials that are now in court. Once the court gives them to me, I will submit the proposal to the Parliament next day.
"I am not a judge, and the Verkhovna Rada is not a judge. Any citizen, whether Mosiichuk, Onyshchenko or other deputies, including Lutsenko, should be treated like any ordinary person," he stressed.
Earlier, Prosecutor General of Ukraine Viktor Shokin confirmed he submitted a presentation to bring MPs Serhii Kliuiev and Serhii Melnychuk to criminal responsibility May 12, 2015. The procedural committee of the Verkhovna Rada adopted the decision on the invalidity of the PGO's presentation on Kliuiev May 29, 2015.
The Verkhovna Rada supported the presentation of the Prosecutor General and agreed to bring Serhii Melnychuk to criminal liability June 3, 2015. However, the Parliament did not support Shokin's presentation to apprehend Melnychuk and detain him.
