 US imposes new sanctions on Russian companies

Among others, the sanctions have targeted Kuntsevo Design Bureau, Kolomna Design Bureau of Machine-Building, and 150th Aircraft Repair Plant.

It is stated in the U.S. Department of State Public Notice No. 9623 that is to be published on July 5, Censor.NET reports.

In addition, the U.S. has extended sanctions against Tula Instrument Building Design Bureau and Kolomna Design Bureau of Machine-Building, which were introduced in September 2015.

The said companies are suspected of supplying Iran, North Korea, and Syria with materials contributing to the development of weapons of mass destruction or cruise or ballistic missile systems. The sanction list includes more than 40 individuals and legal entities from China, Iraq, Iran, Malaysia, North Korea, Sudan, Syria, and Uganda.

In addition to Russian companies, restrictions have also been imposed on Belarusia's Belvneshpromservice. The sanctions apply to any successor, sub-unit, or subsidiary of the listed companies.

As noted, no department or agency of the United States Government may procure or enter into any contract for the procurement of any goods, technology, or services from these foreign persons as well as provide any assistance to them.

The sanctions will remain in place for two years from the effective date.

As previously reported, in 2014, the European Union, the United States and several other countries imposed sanctions against Russia in connection with the occupation of Crimea and aggression in eastern Ukraine. These restrictive measures were repeatedly extended and expanded. In particular, the talks on visa waiver and a new basic agreement on cooperation were suspended; several Russia's officials were banned to travel to the EU while their assets were attached. Trade, financial, and military restrictions were introduced. The sanctions list included a total of 151 individuals and 37 entities.
