Terrorists conducted 50 cases of shelling yesterday, used heavy mortars, IFVs and SPGs, - Staff

The situation in the area of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) was unquiet yesterday; the intensity of shelling increased in the afternoon.

As reported by Censor.NET, this was announced in the ATO press center's report as of 6 a.m. June 24, posted on Facebook.

According to the Staff, 50 cases of fire upon strong points of the Armed Forces were recorded yesterday, 33 of them at Mariupol direction, 15 at Donetsk direction, and two at Luhansk direction.

"Our positions near Shyrokyne, Lebedynske, Chermalyk and Talakivka at Mariupol direction were covered by mortar fire of Russian occupants, and defenses near Marinka, Krasnohorivka, Novotroitske, Berezove and Hnutove were fired from small arms, large-caliber mortars and grenade launchers.Also, IFV weapons and anti-aircraft system were used by the enemy to shell strong points near Talakivka and Vodiane," the message reads.

It is noted that at Donetsk direction, Ukrainian Armed Forces' positions near Leninske and Verkhniotoretske were shelled by the enemy from grenade launchers and 82-mm mortars.

"It was unquiet at Svitlodarsk salient, where our fighters who hold defenses near Maiorsk and Zaitseve were fired at by Russian occupants from machine guns of large caliber and automated grenade launchers, followed by mortars. To shell defenses of Avdiivka, the enemy used machine guns, grenade launchers of various systems, mortars and self-propelled guns. Ukrainian positions near Novoselivka Druha were covered by heavy mortars.

"In the Luhansk region, Russian occupation forces fired from automated grenade launchers near Novozvanivka and Stepne," the ATO press center informed.
