Rozenko: "Rejection of Russian gas does not mean return to firewood"

Within three to five years, Ukraine will become an energy-independent country and finally jump off Russia's gas needle.

Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Rozenko said at a forum, Censor.NET reports citing Novyi Rehion.

"This gas needle did not allow us to develop, realize our European choice. Doing it today is our mission. But it's not that simple. Everyone sees the tremendous opposition to all those steps that our government is making," he said.

According to Rozenko, such a resistance is reasonable: "After all, for 25 years, some people have earned billions of dollars with the help of Russian gas. We've got real gas kings and queens. The gas schemes earned money to finance political forces. But it won't stop us," the deputy prime minister added.

Rozenko believes that energy preservation and rejection of Russian gas does not mean "a return to firewood. Gas substitution implies the use of alternative types of energy and doesn't mean a return to the 18th century," he stressed.Источник: https://censor.net.ua/en/n394629
