Militants continue to use grenade launchers, banned mortars. 36 attacks registered over past day, - Staff

The situation in the area of anti-terrorist operation (ATO) remains restless. Over the past 24 hours, militants committed 36 attacks against Ukrainian defenders.

Censor.NET reports referring to the ATO press center summary as of 6 a.m., June 8.

"At Donetsk direction, pro-Russian gangs attacked our positions 17 times. In the vicinity of Avdiivka and Butivka mine, the enemy used small arms, heavy machine guns, various types of grenade launchers, 82-mm mortars, as well as Minsk-banned 120-mm mortars," the report reads.

According to the Staff, terrorists struck Ukrainian army positions near Maiorsk and Zaitseve twice, employing 82-mm and 120-mm mortars, while heavy machine guns and various types of grenade launchers were fired near Luhanske.

"At Mariupol direction, militants carried out 18 attacks against Ukrainian troops. Our strongholds near Novotroitske, Vodiane came under heavy machine gun and 82-mm mortar fire thrice. In the vicinity of Lebedynske and Novotroitske, the enemy also used heavy 120-mm mortars," the summary notes.

As also reported, Ukrainian forces' positions near Pavlopil, Shyrokyne, and Hnutove were hit with small arms and grenade launchers, while an IFV attack was recorded near Marinka.

It was relatively calm in the Luhansk region, with indirect fire attack registered not far from Stepne.

As previously reported, the National Security and Defense Council claims 10,000 Ukrainians have been killed and more than 20,000 injured by Russian terrorist groups during the ATO.
