Presidential Administration Deputy Head Kostiantyn Yelisieiev said at a briefing, Censor.NET reports citing 112 Ukraine TV channel.
"The Belarusian authorities prohibited the entry of First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Iryna Herashchenko, but then temporarily lifted the ban," he said.
"We were deeply outraged yesterday when we learnt that the Belarusian authorities had taken a decision to ban Iryna Herashchenko to enter the territory of Belarus on the grounds that the relevant ban was imposed by the Russian Federation," Yelisieiev said.
According to him, the Ukrainian side has regarded the move as a non-constructive and aimed at torpedoing the negotiations of the Trilateral Contact Group to resolve the situation in the Donbas.
According to the Presidential Administration deputy head, decisive diplomatic steps were taken on behalf of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko due to which Minsk quashed the ban.
"We received not only verbal confirmation that Iryna Herashchenko was granted permission to enter the territory of the Republic of Belarus on a temporary basis last night, as we insisted that the oral confirmation would not suit us, but also a written one. Unfortunately, this permission was granted only for one month from April 26, 2016 to May 25, 2016," he added.
Yelisieiev stressed that this situation was unacceptable. He informed that Ukraine would take further steps to ensure that Belarus granted Herashchenko an unlimited permission to enter the country.
