 US ready to provide financial guarantees to Ukraine after adoption of certain bills, Nuland says

At a meeting with Ukrainian PM Volodymyr Hroisman, Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs at the United States Department of State Victoria Nuland confirmed the U.S. readiness to provide financial guarantees following Ukraine’s adoption of the bills agreed with the International Monetary Fund.

Volodymyr Hroisman informed Victoria Nuland on key priorities of the new government.

"Today's real situation is very complex. And this situation requires maximum attention and commitment to reforms in the country, which we are focused on today," Hroisman said.

He stressed the government's commitment to implement the reforms designed to overcome corruption, as well as the Ukrainian customs office reform.

In turn, Victoria Nuland congratulated Volodymyr Hroisman on his appointment as prime minister and expressed support to the new government in its commitment to carry out the necessary reforms in the economic and social spheres, in energy sector and in the field of combating corruption.

According to Nuland, Ukraine has already demonstrated great progress, but there is still much to be done.

She confirmed the willingness of the U.S. to provide another package of financial guarantees for Ukraine after it adopts bills critical for the continuation of reforms determined by the agreements with the International Monetary Fund.

"The parties also discussed the progress in the implementation of the Minsk agreements. Nuland reiterated the U.S. authorities' commitment to the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty, and inviolability of Ukrainian borders," the statement reads.
