OSCE SMM registers record level of cease-fire violations since September 2015

Chief of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine Ertugrul Apakan expressed concern by increased violations of cease-fire in the Donetsk region, noting as particularly troubling the extremely high number of incidents involving the use of heavy weapons and mortars.

"The environment the sides have created along the contact line is unacceptable. The deterioration in the security situation has also hampered repairs of essential infrastructure - vital to restoring some normality in people's lives," Apakan stressed.

He is concerned by "the highest level of cease-fire violations in the Donetsk region since the sides recommitted to the cease-fire in September 2015."
