U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt said responding to questions of participants of the 2nd Annual Democratic Governance Conference organized by the International Republican Institute in Kyiv on Friday, Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraine.
According to Geoffrey Pyatt, Vice-president Joseph Biden was satisfied with the assurance of President Poroshenko on his (Poroshenko's) intention to quickly find an independent professional prosecutor general enjoying public confidence.
The ambassador stressed that the U.S. was anticipating the end of the period of political uncertainty, the completion of the political crisis in Ukraine, reaching agreement on the candidacy of a new prime minister and government members, the return to the reform process and the implementation of commitments to the International Monetary Fund.
He stressed that the U.S. was not willing to provide Ukraine with guarantees and investment until the crisis was resolved and the reform process continued.
According to Geoffrey Pyatt, the most important message for President Poroshenko and the Ukrainian people is that the U.S. is interested in Ukraine's success, ready to continue supporting the process of reform and help Ukraine to defend itself against the Russian aggressor. However, he said, that required the unity of all the political leaders, the president, prime minister and chairman of the Verkhovna Rada.
