 Yatseniuk advocates introduction of jury trials in Ukraine

The government advocates amending the Constitution in terms of the legal proceedings and the introduction of jury trials.

This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Arsenii Yatseniuk during the ceremony of drivers licenses hand over to the trainers of the Rapid Action Corps of the National Police on Friday, April 1, Censor.NET reports citing the government's official website.

"What is happening in Ukraine's judicial system today cannot but trigger concern. That is why the government insists on amending the Constitution in terms of the legal proceedings, the adoption of new laws on the status of judges and the judicial system along with the new version of the Constitution, the implementation of a new judicial system, appointment of new decent judges, and the introduction of jury trials," the prime minister said.

Yatseniuk also stressed the need to provide efficient protection to the witnesses giving testimony in high-profile cases.
