The president submitted the laws for consideration by the Verkhovna Rada as urgent. The parliament adopted them on Feb. 18, 2016. The laws are intended to ensure the fulfillment of anti-corruption criteria necessary for the abolition of the visa regime with the EU, in particular, improving the procedures of arrest of property and the institute of special confiscation, developing the principles of work of the National Agency of Ukraine for detection, search and management of assets derived from corruption and other crimes, as well as improving the selection procedure of Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office top officials.
Consultations with the European Commission regarding the law on electronic declarations are underway, seeking to elaborate possible amendments for their further introduction before the parliament. Poroshenko believes these amendments will correspond with the best European practices.
The head of state also calls for finishing the selection of employees to the National Agency for Prevention of Corruption and ensuring its proper functioning.
