PGO tried to transfer Zlochevskyi case after giving reasons for releasing his funds in Great Britain

Just before the arrest of $23 million on accounts of the former Ukrainian Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mykola Zlochevskyi was lifted, the Prosecutor General's Office had tried to hand over the investigation of the Yanukovych-era official to the Interior Ministry of Ukraine.

The fact was mentioned in the ruling of the Solomianskyi district court of Kyiv of Jan. 26, 2016, entered in the Unified State Register of Court Judgments, Censor.NET reports citing Persha Instantsiia.

According to court records, the PGO no longer investigates its employees responsible for unlocking the British accounts of the former Ecology and Natural Resources Minister Zlochevskyi. A few days ago, the criminal proceedings were transferred to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau which has already discovered certain events leading up to the withdrawal of the arrest.

As previously reported, in January 2015, the Central Criminal Court of England and Wales released the accounts of Brociti Investments Ltd (beneficiary - Mykola Zlochevskyi) with $23 million on them.

This became possible thanks to a letter from the PGO of Dec. 2, 2014, signed by Andrii Kravets, head of PGO's fifth investigation department. It stated there were no grounds for the criminal prosecution against Zlochevskyi.

In addition, it became known that on the same day when the PGO received a lawyer's letter (Nov. 27, 2014), its officials prepared a report on the need to change the jurisdiction of the criminal proceedings against Zlochevskyi by transferring them to the Interior Ministry.

Mykola Zlochevskyi served as Minister of Environment and Natural Resources from June 2010 until April 2012.
