Russia suspends FTA with Ukraine effective January 2016. DOCUMENT

Russia has decided to suspend the agreement on free trade area with Ukraine from Jan. 1, 2016.

This is stated in the corresponding decree of the Russian president No. 628 of Dec. 16, 2015, Censor.NET informs.

"Due to exceptional circumstances affecting the interests and economic security of the Russian Federation and requiring immediate steps, I hereby decree: In accordance with paragraph 4, article 37 of the federal law of July 15, 1995 No. 101-ФЗ on international treaties of the Russian Federation, to suspend from Jan. 1, 2016 the agreement on free trade are signed in St. Petersburg on Oct. 18, 2011, with respect to Ukraine," the document reads.

Russian Foreign Ministry is instructed to notify the depository and all parties to the agreement of its suspension in respect of Ukraine.

The decree comes into force from the date of its signing.
