Ukraine will receive additional $300 million from the U.S. defense budget, deputy Defense Minister Yurii Husiev announced at a briefing, Censor.NET reports citing UNIAN.
Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs Elissa Slotkin in her turn reminded that the Ukrainian party has already received U.S. aid in amount over $266 mln for enhancing military capability of the Armed Forces and Border Guard of Ukraine.
Slotkin also said that she discussed adjustment of the Ukrainian army to NATO standards at the meeting with Ukraine's Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak earlier today.
She said the U.S. believed that Russian aggression threatened the united Europe, and despite lower intensity of combat activities in the east of Ukraine, the U.S. would continue to follow the situation and hold the pressure against the Russian Federation.
According to Acting Assistant Secretary, Ukraine and the U.S. have discussed long-term cooperation priorities for five coming years.
