Odesa Governor Saakashvili says 80 protocols corrected in favor of winning mayor Trukhanov

Voting results in Odesa mayor election might be incorrect, for at least 80 polling stations saw falsifications during vote counting.

As reported by Censor.NET citing Ukrinform, this was announced by head of the Odesa regional state administration Mikheil Saakshvili at a briefing.

"We have 80 protocols here, and each of them has been corrected in favor of one of the candidates, the incumbent mayor. These are the facts how the election in Odesa has been conducted. I want to say that in 2004 Ukraine saw the revolution. Because in 2004 Yanukovych was conducting election the very same way. In exactly the same manner, with the same percentage -- Yanukovych was correcting and falsifying the results of the presidential election. I participated in the revolution, the people protested against it," Saakashvili noted.

The head of the regional state administration demonstrated copies of protocols with corrected numbers, presented by observers. He said he would not allow repeating the 2004-election scenario in Odesa, when the victory was stolen from the people with manipulations.

Saakashvili named those he suspected of the election falsifications. He said they were some Bryndak, secretary of the city council, who was acting mayor during Yanukovych era, and the well-known crime boss Anhert, who terrorized Odesa in the 90s.

Despite manipulations and falsifications, the head of the the regional administration said, "we have to change things is Odesa and in the country... I expect the right reaction from both the judicial system and the people making decisions, starting from the president. I know that this country has enough sane and patriotic forces, as well as decent people," Saakashvili said.

"I am willing to cooperate with any mayor, but he has to be elected without any issues," the head of the state administration noted.

Meanwhile, lawyers of another mayor candidate Oleksandr Borovyk filed an action to the court regarding the revealed violations and falsifications.

The plaintiff's representatives say that the following violations were registered on the voting day: "merry-go-round" voting, removing of seals from polling stations, amendments to numbers of voters in protocols, vote buying, removal of observers from polling stations. They believe the revealed violations might significantly influence the result of the election.
