Kyiv mayor candidate Bondarenko: "They do everything to bar me from the second round of elections"

Candidate for mayor of Kyiv from Batkivshchyna party Volodymyr Bondarenko says the elections held on Oct. 25 in Kyiv were "the dirtiest ever."

He said it in a comment to Censor.NET.

According to preliminary data of the Kyiv central election commission, the second round of Kyiv mayoral election will see the incumbent mayor, candidate of Poroshenko Bloc Vitalii Klitschko, while the right to be his opponent is being contested by Batkivshchyna's Volodymyr Bondarenko and Samopomich's Serhii Husovskyi.

Bondarenko, in turn, argues all efforts are made to prevent him from going into the second round, referring to the drawn-out vote count. According to him, this manipulation is intended to "provide" a "convenient" candidate for Vitalii Klitschko in the second round, who Bondarenko says is Oleksandr Omelchenko, one of the former Kyiv mayors.

According to Bondarenko, Omelchenko was voted for mainly by students who he believes are ready to sell their votes. In this mayoral election students have skewed the results in at least two districts of Kyiv - Solomianskyi and Holosiivskyi, Bondarenko says.

"It is not about someone's victory or defeat, it is about losing the state. If social elevators provided by elections do not function, the state is doomed. Therefore, Ukraine is now in a sad condition.

"These elections in Kyiv are the dirtiest ever. If a commission where we have only two votes, for example, does not count those votes, playing some dirty tricks instead, it is hard to talk about any preliminary results," Bondarenko concluded.
