Head of the Odesa regional state administration Mikheil Saakashvili says it on his Facebook page, Censor.NET reports.
"The judicial system stands by Kivalov. But we will soon get rid of these people. The State Fiscal Service in the Odesa region is investigating into a case against certain officials of National University "Odesa Law Academy" for evading taxes through financial transactions with a number of fake companies, totaling over UAH 40 mln (about $1,76 mln) for an alleged execution of construction works. To establish the extent of damage done to the state, the investigator [of the State Fiscal Service - ed.] asks the Prymorskyi district court of Odesa to sanction verifying that university's contractors operate in compliance with the tax legislation. Oct. 21, investigating judge V. Ivanov declined the motion, arguing that by law the authority in question can not appeal to the court," he said.
"While such actions of the investigator are stipulated by the criminal procedure law and the tax code," Saakashvili stressed.
"It is hard to believe that the experienced representative of Themis is not aware of these norms. It turns out that the judge neglected some common things. After all, an economic crime can not be investigated without auditing companies for compliance with the tax legislation. Moreover, the same judge went even further, removing his own attachment of nearly 13 mln tons of agricultural products with the market value of more than UAH 40 mln, which was imposed under criminal proceedings on the fact of money laundering," the governor outraged.
