National Guard officers detained selling military property involved in drug trafficking, - Chief Military Prosecutor

Prosecutor General's Office announced five officers of the National Guard of Ukraine, who were arrested for embezzlement of military property, of being involved in drug trafficking as well.

Deputy Prosecutor General, Chief Military Prosecutor Anatolii Matios said at a briefing, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainski Novyny.

"We have obtained reliable evidence that some of the detained officers purchased drugs for their own needs using that money," he said.

Matios also noted that some of the detained National Guarders have already begun cooperating with the investigation.

Earlier, five officers of the logistics service of the National Guard of Ukraine have been detained attempting to sell another batch of embezzled military property worth over 200,000 hryvnia (more than $9,000) Oct. 10.
