Kyiv railway station bomber identified by victim, he pleads not guilty, - Interior Ministry

The man who is likely to have tossed an explosive device towards the woman (according to preliminary data - a grenade) turned out to be a foreigner.

It is stated by Interior Ministry Main Department in Kyiv press service, Censor.NET reports.

"The suffered woman received medical assistance and refused to go to hospital. She has already given her explanations to law enforcers: the incident happened after she went out of a cafe where she had spent time with her friend. At that moment, she was approached by a man who, after a brief conversation, took some object out of his pocket and threw it behind the cafe. At the same time an explosion followed," the statement notes.

"In his turn, the man, who was taken to the district police department on suspicion of committing an offense, pleads not guilty. But the woman and witnesses of the incident identified him. Despite the fact he had no ID, the police say he is a resident of another country, born in 1975. He had lived in Dnipropetrovsk with his wife since 2013 and moved to Kyiv three months ago. He claims no permanent residence or work," the police states.

According to preliminary conclusions, an RGD-5 grenade went off near the railway station. Law enforcers investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. Man's arrest is being considered.
