Ukraine opposes Russia's charging paratroopers with illegal border crossing, - SBU Adviser Tandit

Ukraine does not agree with detention of three Ukrainian servicemen of the 79th Separate Airmobile Brigade by the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation on charges of alleged illegal border crossing.

This was stated by the Security Service head's advisor Yurii Tandit, Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraine.

"We believe that, in fact, the purpose of this information operation is to show the difference between us and them. But there is a law on right of possession, and under this law Crimea is our territory," Tandit said.

He added that details of the incident are being specified, in particular, one of the versions put forward by the Russian side is being checked - "illegal crossing of the line of contact with the temporarily occupied Crimea."

"Our main goal is to do everything to take the guys back. They did not trespass, they did not want to intentionally violate something or surrender and become hostages. The guys got there under certain circumstances, and we must do our utmost to return them," Tandit said.

As previously informed by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine press service, in the morning of Sept. 5, three soldiers of the 79th Separate Airmobile Brigade were reported missing. According to the General Staff, it was established that at night two vehicles (UAZ and Ural trucks) came to the area from the occupied Crimea, with possible unlawful detention of Ukrainian servicemen taking place shortly after. At the same time, weapons, ammunition and ID's of the abducted remained at the military unit.

Subsequently, the FSB border department press service stated that three Ukrainian soldiers had illegally crossed the border and had been detained by border guards on Sept. 5 on a dam across the lake Syvash. The detainees will be brought to administrative responsibility for violation of the state border and handed over to the border authorities in Ukraine.Источник: https://censor.net.ua/en/n350916
