Malaysia believes the failure to establish a tribunal to investigate and identify those responsible for the Malaysia Airlines plane crash in the Donetsk region, July 2014, jeopardizes the safety of civil aviation.

This was announced at a meeting of the UN Security Council by the Malaysian Minister of Transport Liow Tiong Lai, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainski Novyny.

The minister said that instead of a signal to support justice and accountability, a dangerous message of impunity of those guilty in this hideous crime was being sent. He also added the safety of civil aviation in the conflict areas would be put in jeopardy in future.

He noted that Malaysia was disappointed by the UN's inability to establish the tribunal. According to Liou Tiong Lai, Malaysia will continue seeking to identify those responsible for the Malaysia Airlines plane crash.
