Russian citizen Starkov, detained by Ukrainian border guards, admits he is Russian active officer, SBU chairman says

Citizen of the Russian Federation Vladimir Starkov detained by the Ukrainian border guards on the Berezove checkpoint (the Donetsk region) admitted that he was the Russian permanent officer.

This was stated by head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Hrytsak, Censor.NET informs citing Interfax-Ukraine.

"Immediately after the detention, Starkov admitted that he was citizen of Russia and belonged to the regular cadres of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation," Hrytsak said at a briefing in Kyiv on Wednesday.

In turn, head of the State Border Guard Service Viktor Nazarenko informed that the border guards detained Russian citizen Vladimir Starkov, born in 1978, resident of the Khabarovsk Territory. He was detained together with Ukrainian citizen Ruslan Iotko, born in 1967.

It should be reminded that the State Border Guard Service officers detained KamAZ truck fully packed with ammunition on Berezove checkpoint (the Donetsk region) at around 10 p.m. on July 25. The vehicle that came from the temporarily uncontrolled territory was attended by two persons in uniforms. One of them appeared to be a career soldier of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Major Vladimir Starkov while the other person was a member of the illegal armed group.
