Death toll in Donbas reaches nearly 7,000, - UN

Nearly 7,000 people have been killed, more than 17,000 have been wounded since the beginning of the military Russia-Ukraine conflict in the east of Ukraine.

This was announced by the spokesperson for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Cécile Pouilly, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainski Novyny. "Since mid-April, 2014 until June 27, 2015, at least 6,832 people have been killed (both civilians and military) and at least 17,087 people have been injured in the conflict zone in eastern Ukraine," she said. The figures include the 298 victims of the Malaysian Boeing tragedy.

The numbers are based on data provided by the UN monitoring mission on human rights in Ukraine and the World Health Organizaion. These data are not complete because of gaps in certain regions and time periods, and due to the reports being incomplete, Pouilly stressed. According to the press officer, the real number of casualties might be higher.
