Some Schengen states considerably cut down multivisas for Ukrainians, - Ukrainian Foreign Minister

Several Schengen consulates consciously level down visas issued to Ukrainians.

As reported by Censor.NET citing Evropeiska Pravda, this was announced by the Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin during a meeting of the parliamentary committee on European integration.

"Some states pretend everything (principle of visa issue - ed.) remains as it is, but given the internal pressure they change their visa practices," Klimkin said.

According to him, such consuls admit that sometimes they do not issue multiple-entry visas, even if the applicant is entitled to. "They tell us that it is better to issue multiple visas, rather than a long-term one... however, these states are few," Klimkin said. According to him, the Foreign Ministry is now putting pressure on the consulates and respective capitals demanding to return to the previous practice. The Minister didn't list the "problematic" consulates.
