Poroshenko proposes to legislate "extraordinary rights for law enforcement officers"

President Poroshenko will shortly advance the initiative to temporarily provide law enforcement officers with the right to prosecute as terrorists all armed individuals, who do not serve as law enforcers.

As reported by Censor.NET citing Ukrainska Pravda, Interfax-Ukraine and Ukrainski Novyny, he announced this in Uzhhorod during a meeting with activists of the Zakarpattia region. As an example, the president mentioned the Balkans. "In the Balkans, when the war was subsiding and there were huge amounts of weapons, any armed appearance in the street not connected with law enforcement bodies activity was qualified as terrorism. Consequently, law enforcement bodies exercised their exclusive right to treat you like a terrorist," the president said.
