The president noted the increase in tension along the demarcation line in the Donbas was strangely synchronized with an attempt to destabilize the situation in the rear, a thousand kilometers from the front, where the heavily armed people emerged. Poroshenko stressed that during the war the attempts to destabilize the situation were a powerful blow to the country's defense, and the authorities would do everything to curb it.

"It discredits the true patriots of Ukraine. No political force should and will have any armed branches. No political organization will have the right to form mere criminal gangs," the president said. The head of state stressed the Interior Ministry, the SBU and other law enforcement bodies had to fulfill their duty and disarm all illegal armed units.

The head of state said the events in Mukacheve revealed a number of urgent issues of concern requiring immediate solutions. "We should unravel old problems requiring immediate solutions. I'm talking about clan system, smuggling, corruption and the like. The picture of what is happening there now is not black and white. It's just very black," the head of state stressed.

According to the president, the essence of the conflict in Mukacheve lies in redistribution of smuggling. The head of state said he required decisive actions of law enforcement bodies in combating smuggling. "It must be tough and fundamental investigation into everybody involved. The searches, detentions and direct criminal responsibility. Neither mandates, nor connections will help," Poroshenko said. The head of state ordered to take staff decisions upon the investigation results.

"Smuggling is not a purely Zakarpattia problem. The moment we started putting pressure - all hell broke lose. Transcarpathian smugglers challenged the entire country. I want to say - we accept the challenge," Poroshenko said.
