Savchenko to face 25-year impisonment, - Russian Investigative Committee


The Investigative Committee of Russia announced that the Ukrainian pilot and MP Nadiia Savchenko, illegaly held in Russia, is to face a 25-year impisonment.

As reported by Censor.NET citing Interfax Ukraine, this was announced by the official representative of the committee Vladimir Markin.

"In view of the evidence collected, investigators reclassified actions of the accused, and now she is responsible not as an accomplice, but as a co-executor of murder of two or more persons in a dangerous way, motivated by hatred towards a social group, carried out by a group of persons by prior conspiracy," Markin said.

Moreover, according to him, Savchenko is charged with attempt at murder of civilians who might have suffered a "shelling, adjusted by her."

"The sanction of the article provides for punishment up to life imprisonment, but in accordance with the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation women are exempt from life imprisonment. Thus, the maximum term of imprisonment for Savchenko is 25 years," Markin said.

Earlier, the Russian Prosecutor General's Office announced the approval of indictment, as well as passing the Savchenko's criminal case to the Donetsk city court of the Rostov region.
