6,000 Russians denied entry to Ukraine since the beginning of the year, - State Border Guard Service

The State Border Guard Service officers have refused 6,000 citizens of the Russian Federation to cross the state border of Ukraine in the first half of 2015.

Assistant to the Chairman of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, spokesperson Oleh Slobodian said at a briefing on Thursday, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.

"Over 25,000 persons, including 6,000 citizens of the Russian Federation, were denied crossing the state border of Ukraine within the first six months [of 2015 - ed.]. The total of 34,500,000 people and 8,500,000 vehicles have crossed the border for the first half of 2015. These figures do not include the anti-terrorist operation area," Slobodian said.

According to him, almost 11,000 persons, including 700 illegal migrants, were detained for illegal border crossing.

"400 units of weapons, over 8,000 munitions, 2.8 kilos of explosives and 78 kilos of drugs have been found and seized during the illegal cross-border movement," the spokesman said.

He said that the State Border Guard Service units in conjunction with other law enforcement agencies prevented 1,030 cases of illegal delivery of goods to the territory controlled by the militants on the demarcation line for the total amount of 223,000,000 hryvnia (over $1,000,000).
